Another year is about gone….. But a brand new one just around the bend. I’m reminded of one of my favorite quotes from Helen Keller: “A bend in the road is not the end of the road unless you fail to turn the corner”.
So, as we come into 2016, make a conscious effort to “turn the corner” in your career and make some changes to get or keep you on the right path.
To help you make some goals for 2016, here are the top Resolutions for 2015:
- Lose weight
- Get more organized
- Get control of your spending
- Do something fun everyday
- Get in shape
- Learn something new and exciting
- Help others achieve their dreams
- Meet the person of your dreams
- Spend more time with family
I see some good ones on this list that will be on mine for 2016, but statistics show that only 45% of us will make any resolutions and just 8% of us actually see them through to the end of the year.
And, it appears to be age based:
- 35% of people in their 20’s meet their goals
- 14% of people aged 50+ meet their goals
Hmmm, so, why should we even make any resolutions? Well, there is a lot of science and research that says that something happens when we commit the actual exercise of writing down our plans and dreams for the future. When we set goals we are “shooting for the stars”. And when we do that, we will actually accomplish more than if we had not made the resolution.
So set some resolutions and plan for a great 2016!
