In 1987, I was diagnosed with uterine cancer, in the 8 months prior to my diagnosis I lost my grandfather from prostate cancer and an aunt from breast cancer. I think this was the moment in which my purpose in life was clearly defined. Although it took me a few years to realize my calling, once I discovered the difference I could make in the life of another cancer patient I never looked back. Thanks to my training in oncology esthetics, I live each day to the fullest and appreciate life more than ever.

Licensed Esthetician in Iowa since December 2009. Oncology trained in July 2010. I own and operate a full-service salon/spa, “Skin Deep Salon & Spa”, in Coralville, IA.
Vice-President/Treasurer of a 503 (c)non-profit “Surviving in Style” since 2015. To date, we have raised and donated over $18k, back to cancer patients to help pay for medical services not covered by insurance.

Skin Deep Salon & Spa was selected as a preferred provider for Strands of Strength (SOS), a 503(c)3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide wigs free of charge to low-income women suffering hair loss due to cancer treatment. The wigs offered by Strands of Strength disguise hair loss, decrease feelings of vulnerability and provide greater self-esteem, hopefully resulting in the personal strength needed to successfully battle the disease.

In 2015, Becky gave me the opportunity to become an educator of her amazing program Oncology Spa Solutions®. And, I get the opportunity to work with my beautiful daughter, Stephanie who is an oncology-trained cosmetologist that assists me when I teach.

Although my title is “educator’, I never stop learning. When you open your heart to feel, your eyes to see, your ears to listen and your hands to heal…life rewards you in every second of every day. Look, listen, see and be compassionate… life is good.
