Do you believe in LUCK? That people win, succeed or get things accomplished for no apparent reason other than “they are just lucky”. Or, do you believe that those things happen to people that have been quietly working (hard) to prepare themselves for the day “the big opportunity” arrives?
Let me give you an example; George Clooney. Yes, (yum) we all know who he is now, but he started his acting career in 1978 as an “unknown”. From 1978 to 1994 he worked on all kinds of projects and yet no one “knew who he was” until he landed the part in ER in 1994. When he was nominated for an Emmy in 1995 for that role people said he was an “overnight success”. But, at that point he had been working (solid) for 17 years! And he didn’t win an Emmy until 2010 (another 15 years of crafting his skill). What if he had quit along the way?
What have you been doing to “craft your skill” so that you will be ready when the “part of a lifetime” comes your way? Do you invest in yourself? Are you learning all that you can, all of the time? Do you look at each area of your life (success or ‘failure”) as a lesson so that you can be better prepared for the next opportunity? Do you invest in people and learn from each one in your path? All of these things make us who we are and hopefully are preparing us for what we were put on this earth to accomplish.
Too often we rely on luck, when what we really need to be doing is daily preparing ourselves for the future we want. “What goes around comes around”. Ever hear that one? It really means, that we will reap what we sow. So start planting the things you want for your future.
Have you found your WHAT? What were you created to do? I hope so, because when you find that, the fun begins. And if not, make 2016 the year that you discover what makes you happy and how to make a living at it.
